Mel Eaton

Since 2003, Mel has worked as a local primary school teacher. Her passion lies in teaching subjects in a creative context, encouraging children to think originally and imaginatively about their learning. Mel’s background prior to teaching, includes a B.A. Hons in English Literature and an Arts foundation.

Mel’s vision and passion revolve around spreading the joy of creativity and promoting its positive impact on mental health and wellbeing. She currently facilitates creative writing, nature journaling and art workshops under the umbrella of WriteSpace North East.

Mel has her own connections to North Shields; her grandparents and great-grandparents being born and raised in the area. A conversation with her Nana about World War II, led her to produce a school film production based on the North Shields Wilkinson’s Lemonade Factory Disaster – the film was awarded a Royal Television Society commendation.

In her spare time, Mel enjoys honing her writing and art skills, and is currently authoring a children’s book. Daily walks along the coast with her dog, Ginny are a must too!
