Wendy Helps

Wendy has taught on FE level 2 and level 3 courses in Vocational Art and Design, Foundation Studies (pre-degree) in Art and Design, A level Art, and as a visiting lecturer on the FDA in Crafts.

Wendy specialises in Fashion/Textiles and 3D crafts, tutoring and pastoral care. She has been involved in a number of widening participation initiatives in collaboration with University of Arts London.

Her academic qualifications include a BA in Surface pattern and Printed Textiles from Middlesex University, PGCE from Greenwich University and an MA in Visual Arts from Camberwell College of Arts – University of Arts London.

Inclusivity, community and the ‘power of making’ are fundamental to her creative practice; she has conceived and delivered a wide range of workshops and community engagement projects; including ‘Family Fun’ at the Shipley Art Gallery, the ‘Windows on Whitley Bay’ banner initiative at the Green Beans Market and schools workshops for ‘Shimmer light’ festival and for the Whitley Bay Carnival.

Wendy loves to collaborate and as a member of the team that organises and delivers ‘Fiesta Whitley Bay’ she has really enjoyed working with this dynamic group of volunteers, and is looking forward to bringing her artistic skills and energy to The Heritology Project.
