David Ellison

David left Marden High School with few qualifications and started work as an apprentice heating and vent technician in North Shields in 1971.

He later joined the Fire Brigade on Tyneside and served for 30 years in various locations before retiring as Sub Officer with a BA (Hons) from Northumbria university (following his work on contemporary fire brigade training methods).

In 2007, David gained a Masters degree in History from Northumbria University, whilst working there in Student Support.

His particular area of historic interest is the Tyneside Home Front during World War 2.

David is a singer/songwriter and performs locally with The TINSTONES, volunteering with local deaf awareness charities, as well as at the Old Low Light Heritage Centre cafe, and he’s recently joined the Tynemouth Gilbert and Sullivan society.
